"The slow decay of the Great Oak pool has been very much anticipated and expected. Things fall apart year after year," said GOHS senior Sarah Harris, who has competed in water polo and swim throughout her high school career.
school girls at the pool
The GOHS girl's water polo season typically starts in November. The boy's season is currently underway. On-campus practices are canceled in the school's large pool. Two pumps are being built for it, but it will take approximately 12 weeks before students can expect the pool to reopen, according to TVUSD administration.
"We have great community partners and relationships with the leadership at other high schools in Temecula and we have often worked with other schools when work is being done on a facility and we need to 'share' a space," according to TVUSD administration.
In February 2016, several fake news web sites published articles reporting that sixteen girls had become pregnant after a boy accidentally ejaculated into the water of a pool in which they were swimming:
A simple weekend pool party turned to tragedy when one of the young men (Tommy Coulter) attending the birthday celebration ejaculated in the pool without warning the house guests, accidentally ending up impregnating half of the girls present at the celebration.
Setting aside the obvious physical improbability of this story (and the notion that a boy would "warn" people that he was about to ejaculate into a swimming pool), we know this story is completely false because it originated with a web site that specializes in clickbait fake news articles.
This isn't the first time that a false rumor concerning a woman getting impregnated by sperm in a swimming pool has been an item of gossip. It's a common urban legend that nearly adolescent has heard, almost invariably involving a "friend of a friend."

Redwood and Archie Williams were on a collision course all season, as both teams dominated the MCAL. On Wednesday, two teams entered the pool unbeaten. At the end of the night, the Giants remained undefeated as the top seed for the MCAL playoffs with a 8-4 victory over the host Peregrine Falcons.
The Falcons struggled to break down the Redwood defense, but the ball-hawking Giants controlled the pool. A turnover and a drive to get the ball into the hands of DeForrest set her up for a lofting shot past Falcons goalie Kaely Sullivan for a 5-1 Redwood lead midway through the third quarter. Moseley followed with a 2-meter shot over the Falcons defense about a minute later.

During the COVID-shortened girls swim season in the spring, Central Kitsap, Olympic used North Kitsap's pool since OAC was closed for repairs, while Klahowya used the pool at the Silverdale YMCA. Now OAC is up and running again.
Dodd, who works as pool coordinator at OAC, said the three Central Kitsap School District teams and two North Kitsap School District teams have found a manageable training schedule. Since North Kitsap and Kingston practice together in the evening, there is minimal overlap between the teams.
Central Kitsap won its first two meets of the season against South Sound Conference 3A opponents Timberline and North Thursday and is scheduled to compete against Olympic and Klahowya on Saturday at OAC. Dodd said she's glad to see live meets return this fall since a majority of meets were held virtually in the spring. Teams raced in separate pools and compared times to determine winners.
Kingston coach Mark VanHuis, the school's boys swim coach, added girls swim duties this fall. He said senior Olivia Guzman, junior Mimi Hays and sophomore Lilia Manges are the Buccaneers' swimmers to watch.
In addition to our four veterans, we have very strong sophomore and freshman classes. Our sophomores did not get the opportunity to experience a real high school season last year, so we are excited for both our talented freshman and sophomore athletes to shine at the district and state levels.
We have been working closely with our architects and consultant team on the project which will deliver a 25m, eight-lane competition pool with associated facilities, a fitness centre and tiered seating.
The location (between the gymnasium/multi-purpose hall, the main oval and the tennis courts) was chosen with Tara students in mind, as it can be easily accessed by girls from both the Senior and Junior Schools.
The existing 25m outdoor pool and associated buildings will be out of action as soon as the builders arrive on site. This means that there will be no swimming, diving or water polo on site until the new facility is completed in 2022.
